Visible Colorimetric Fluoride Ion Sensors
Organic Letters, 2005[structure: see text] Five new urea derivative naphthalene compounds were synthesized by a reaction of 1,8-diaminonaphthalene and the corresponding isocyanates and showed a distinct color change only when treated with fluoride ions.

A colorimetric sensor array for odour visualization
Nature, 2000Array-based vapour-sensing devices are used to detect and differentiate between chemically diverse analytes. These systems--based on cross-responsive sensor elements--aim to mimic the mammalian olfactory system by producing composite responses unique to each odorant.

Novel colorimetric sensor for oral malodour
Analytica Chimica Acta, 2010Volatile sulphur compounds are the primary constituents of oral malodour. Quantitative tools for the detection of oral malodour are beneficial to evaluate the intensity of malodour, analyse its causes and monitor the effectiveness of customized treatments.

A bidentate borane as colorimetric fluoride ion sensor
Chem. Commun., 2004The bright yellow bidentate diborane (3), obtained by reaction of 10-bromo-9-thia-10-boraanthracene (1) with dimesityl-1,8-naphthalenediylborate (2), serves as a colorimetric anion sensor and selectively complexes fluoride with an association constant greater than 5 × 109 M−1 in THF.
