ABSTRACT Robot‐assisted transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) is a safe and effective platform for the local excision of early rectal lesions. While postoperative complications such as bleeding or contained perforation are recognized, rapidly progressive retroperitoneal sepsis remains an exceedingly rare occurrence.
