Colour quantisation for colour texture analysis

IEE Proceedings E Computers and Digital Techniques, 1993
The problem of describing texture colours in a concise way is analysed. This problem is formulated as a colour quantisation problem, where the texture image is quantised using the smallest number k of representative colours given some criteria. These colours are the texture characteristic colours, and an algorithm is proposed to obtain them.

Quantitative spore colour measurement using colour image analysis

Organic Geochemistry, 1998
Abstract The colour changes that spores exhibit, with increasing depth of burial, are used as a thermal maturity indicator for evaluating hydrocarbon source rocks. Spore colour is determined visually leading to an intrinsic difficulty of unequivocally assessing and recording their colour.

Colour image texture analysis: dependence on colour spaces

Object recognition supported by user interaction for service robots, 2003
In this paper we investigate the role of colour spaces on texture analysis. We extract a range of correlogram and colour moment features for the VisTex colour texture benchmark in different colour spaces and find the average probabilistic distance of separation across different objects for different features and suggest the colour spaces that are best ...

Colour texture analysis using colour histogram

IEE Proceedings - Vision, Image, and Signal Processing, 1994
The authors describe a new and systematic way of analysing colour texture. They propose to extract both spatial (i.e. texture) and spectral (i.e. colour) attributes separately from a colour image. This involves a parallel system of representation comprising two channels, one for texture representation and the other for colour description.

Colour texture analysis for quantitative laryngoscopy

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2003
Whilst considerable progress has been made in enhancing the quality of indirect laryngoscopy and image processing, the evaluation of clinical findings is still based on the clinician's judgement. The aim of this paper was to examine the feasibility of an objective computer-based method for evaluating laryngeal disease.Digitally recorded images obtained
