High-throughput sequencing reveals the change of microRNA expression caused by allopolyploidization in Cucumis

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2020
Allopolyploidy is long recognized as an essential driving force in plant evolution. Recent studies have demonstrated that small RNAs, including microRNAs (miRNAs), play important roles in the process of allopolyploidy.

The expression of pre- and postcopulatory sexually selected traits reflects levels of dietary stress in guppies.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Environmental and ecological conditions can shape the evolution of life history traits in many animals. Among such factors, food or nutrition availability can play an important evolutionary role in moderating an animal's life history traits, particularly

Dynamic Colour Changes in Thermochromic Liquid Crystal Inks: Compatibility with Bacterial Nanocellulose for Sustainable Packaging Solutions

open access: yesCrystals
This study investigates the interaction between thermochromic liquid crystal (TLC) inks and bacterial nanocellulose (BNC), emphasizing their compatibility for smart packaging applications. While the chiral nematic structure of TLC pigments dictates their

Thermal performance of cooling strategies for asphalt pavement: A state-of-the-art review

open access: yesJournal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English ed. Online), 2021
Asphalt pavements absorb and store more heat than natural surfaces. Thus, high temperatures are emitted from conventional asphalt pavements, subsequently releasing heat into the atmosphere and contributing to the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon ...

Deep Sequencing of FLT3‐ITD Enables Response Evaluation and Post‐Treatment Monitoring in Childhood AML: An Exploratory Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background An internal tandem duplication in the gene encoding Fms‐like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3‐ITD) is associated with high relapse risk and poor prognosis in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and plays a crucial role in treatment decisions. Measurable residual disease (MRD) analysis of FLT3‐ITD during and after treatment has shown prognostic ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
