Cost‐effectiveness of risk‐stratified screening for cervical cancer in cohorts vaccinated against human papillomavirus with moderate vaccination coverage

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 2, Page 389-400, 15 July 2026.
What's new? Effective cervical cancer prevention centers around screening and testing for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. With birth cohorts of HPV‐vaccinated women now reaching screening‐eligible ages, however, the best means to maintaining cost‐effective cervical cancer screening is unclear.

Nationwide audit of cervical cancer screening reveals unsatisfactory triage strategies and trends over time in incidence among cytology negative women

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 2, Page 467-477, 15 July 2026.
What's new? This population‐based cohort study aimed to demonstrate how annual audits of all aspects of the cervical cancer screening pathway can be performed using register national data with clinical validation to identify patterns of risk and inform program change.

Predictive factors for the absence of high‐grade intraepithelial lesions in LLETZ specimens following a prior histological diagnosis

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 7, Page 1240-1246, July 2026.
About 9.4% of patients with biopsy‐proven high‐grade cervical lesions had ultimately no high‐grade lesion (HGIL) in the excision specimen. The probability of the absence of HGIL was significantly increased in patients with a small lesion, with minor changes or normal colposcopy, and in those with normal cytology or minor abnormalities.

Cost‐effectiveness analysis of human papillomavirus (HPV) genotyping strategies for management of HPV‐positive women in cervical cancer screening

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 12, Page 3141-3151, 15 June 2026.
What's new? Persistent infection with high‐risk human papillomavirus (HPV) causes most invasive cervical cancer cases, leading many countries to transition from cytology to primary HPV‐based screening. Despite the benefits, HPV‐based screening may also lead to unnecessary procedures, psychological burden, and strain on healthcare systems.

The Role of Enterococcus faecium in the Synergistic Clearance of High‐Risk HPV: A Clinical Study on Cervicovaginal Microbiota Regulation

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Persistent infection with high‐risk human papillomavirus (HR‐HPV) is defined as the principal cause of cervical cancer. Given the important role of cervicovaginal microbiota in HPV acquisition and disease progression, this study aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy of the probiotic Enterococcus faecium (E.
