Effect of column loss location on structural response of a generic steel moment resisting frame [PDF]
The effect of column loss location on the structural response of steel moment resisting frames (MRF) is investigated in this study. A series of nonlinear static and dynamic analyses were performed to determine the resistance of a generic frame to an ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Solvent removal interface for micro-column two-dimensional NPLC/RPLC [PDF]
For the construction of two-dimensional liquid chromatography (LC) system, the compromise of the separation efficiency and selectivity on each dimension is usually unavoidable.

MACRO-ELEMENT MODEL OF A STEEL MOMENT FRAME SUBJECTED TO FIRE-INDUCED COLUMN LOSS [PDF]
A progressive collapse mitigation strategy is to ensure load redistribution when a column fails due to fire. The study seeks to understand whether welded unreinforced flange-bolted web (WUF-B) moment connections can effectively redistribute loads in a ...

Changes in HPLC column pressure is diagnostic of problems with column operation [PDF]
High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is a high-pressure instrument that requires constant monitoring to ensure its safety in use. Typically, most HPLC instruments on the market do have mechanisms to monitor column pressure to warn against ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Seasonal variability of stratospheric methane: implications for constraining tropospheric methane budgets using total column observations [PDF]
Global and regional methane budgets are markedly uncertain. Conventionally, estimates of methane sources are derived by bridging emissions inventories with atmospheric observations employing chemical transport models.
