Removal of sulfamethoxazole and sulfapyridine by carbon nanotubes in fixed-bed columns [PDF]
Sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and sulfapyridine (SPY), two representative sulfonamide antibiotics, have gained increasing attention because of the ecological risks these substances pose to plants, animals, and humans.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Performance of Italian zeolitic tuffs and pozzolana in 2-chlorophenol removal from contaminated groundwater. Lab-scale experience [PDF]
The physical and chemical properties of zeolites and the availability of localized deposits of naturally occurring zeolitized tuffs and pozzolana, make them desirable for and applicable to the remediation of contaminated groundwater. This paper documents

Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Nitrogen transfer between clover and wheat in an intercropping experiment [PDF]
A novel approach to the problem of improving nitrogen supply in organic farming is to use intercropping of cereals with a legume to provide nitrogen transfer within a season and/or to following crops. The affects of intercropping were studied in a column

Biosorption of Cr (VI) using a bacterial biofilm supported on granular activated carbon and on zeolite [PDF]
Two mini-columns partially filled with granular activated carbon (GAC) and/or a natural zeolite, covered by a bacterial biofilm of Arthrobacter viscosus, were used in a continuous flow system to remove Cr (VI) from solutions with initial concentration ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

The studies on progressive collapse have primarily focused on threat-independent methods, wherein a sudden column removal is suggested in codes. However, a real collapse scenario is necessarily threat-dependent.

Chlorine Removal with Activated Carbon Using Bubble Column
Bubble column slurry reactor was used for the measurements of gas adsorption and ion-exchange in this work. Adsorption of chorine (dissolved in water) on activated carbon was carried out in the same reactor. The effect of gas flowrates uG 0.016 m s–1-0.027 m s–1 which covers the boundaries of the following four regimes: bubbly flow, first transition ...
