Cadmium removal in a biosorption column

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1994
AbstractNew biosorbent material derived from a ubiquitous brown marine alga Ascophyllum nodosum has been examined in packed‐bed flow‐through sorption columns. It effectively removed 10 mg/L of cadmium down to 1.5 ppb levels in the effluent, representing 99.985% removal.

Clinoptilolite Column Ammonia Removal Model

Journal of the Environmental Engineering Division, 1978
A simple model employing a linear driving force in the particle phase has been successfully employed to model ammonium removal from a synthetic wastewater by a column of clinoptilolite. Batch isotherm studies conducted with the ammonium containing wastewater where shown to follow the form of a Langmuir isotherm for a single solute system but these data

Removal of tetrachloroethylene in an anaerobic column bioreactor

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1997
Removal of tetrachloroethylene (perchloroethylene; C2Cl4) by microbial consortia from two sites with different C2Cl4 exposure histories was examined in a bench-scale anaerobic column bioreactor. It was hypothesized that optimal removal would be observed in the reactor packed with sediments having an extensive exposure history.

Nitrate removal in zero-valent iron packed columns

Water Research, 2003
Nitrate removal by laboratory and field continuous-flow zero-valent iron (Fe(0)) packed bed columns was evaluated for different influent water qualities (pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), nitrate concentration) and several months of operation (600-1500 bed volumes (BVs)).
