DORATOMYCES COLUMNARIS SP. NOV. [PDF]
In the course of a routine investigation of fungi growing on dung pellets of hares collected in the Melville Koppies Nature Reserve in Johannesburg some rather small coremia were noticed. Slides were prepared and an attempt made to isolate the organism in pure culture was successful.

Flavobacterium columnare ferric iron uptake systems are required for virulence
Flavobacterium columnare, which causes columnaris disease, is one of the costliest pathogens in the freshwater fish-farming industry. The virulence mechanisms of F. columnare are not well understood and current methods to control columnaris outbreaks are

Coinfection outcome in an opportunistic pathogen depends on the inter-strain interactions [PDF]
Background: In nature, organisms are commonly coinfected by two or more parasite strains, which has been shown to influence disease virulence. Yet, the effects of coinfections of environmental opportunistic pathogens on disease outcome are still poorly

ABSTRACT Flavobacterium spp. are the etiological agents of columnaris disease. Although there is evidence that columnaris poses a significant threat to the farming of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), there remains a large gap in understanding the genetic and phenotypic diversities of columnaris‐causing bacteria (CCB).
