The COM‐Poisson model for count data: a survey of methods and applications

Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, 2011
The Poisson distribution is a popular distribution for modeling count data, yet it is constrained by its equidispersion assumption, making it less than ideal for modeling real data that often exhibit over‐dispersion or under‐dispersion. The COM‐Poisson distribution is a two‐parameter generalization of the Poisson distribution that allows for a wide ...

Implementation of a COM-based decision-tree model with VBA in ArcGIS

Expert Systems with Applications, 2010
The problem of soil pollution by heavy metals has been receiving an increasing attention in the last few decades. Geostatistics module in ArcGIS, could not however efficiently simulate the spatial distribution of heavy metals with satisfied accuracy when the spatial autocorrelation of the study area severely destroyed by human activities. In this study,

DESP-COM Model Based on Context-aware in Pervasive Computing

2008 IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control, 2008
Up to now, existing context-aware researches mostly concentrate on technique solution, rarely on theoretical modeling. As a complex environment that almost all the elements of environment will cooperate with each other and the fact that original practitioners are not always appropriate or even available, pervasive computing need to create models before

Computing with bivariate COM-Poisson model under different copulas

Monte Carlo Methods and Applications, 2017
Abstract Bivariate counts are collected in many sectors of research but the analysis of such data is often challenging because each series of counts may exhibit different levels and types of dispersion. This paper addresses this problem by proposing a flexible bivariate COM-Poisson model that may handle any combination of over-, equi ...

COM Model Characterization for RF SAW Devices

2010
The coupling-of-modes (COM) model was applied to the analysis of surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices in the 1980's. At that time, the COM parameters were calculated using perturbation techniques or extracted from experimental data. With the improvements in computational resources it became possible to characterize the COM model's parameters using this ...

Adapting C++ Exception Handling to an Extended COM Exception Model

2001
This paper describes how correctness and robustness of component-based systems can be improved by categorising exceptions by component state and cause, and handling them accordingly. Further, it is shown how this model is supported in C++ in a COM-based environment, also simplifying the code for exception detection, signalling, and handling.

An OSEK COM Compliant Communication Model for Smart Vehicle Environment

2005
Smart Vehicle Environment (SVE) is an important application of the idea of smart spaces. This paper presents Smart Vehicle Multi-Agent System (SVMAS) to achieve the goal of SVE and put forwards a commutation model for SVMAS based on SmartOSEK COM [1] to support data exchange.
