Plans for a 10-m Submillimeter-wave Telescope at the South Pole [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A 10 meter diameter submillimeter-wave telescope has been proposed for the NSF Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. Current evidence indicates that the South Pole is the best submillimeter-wave telescope site among all existing or proposed ground-based ...

Correction of Optical Aberrations in Elliptic Neutron Guides

open access: yes, 2012
Modern, nonlinear ballistic neutron guides are an attractive concept in neutron beam delivery and instrumentation, because they offer increased performance over straight or linearly tapered guides.

Evidence of Fragmenting Dust Particles from Near-Simultaneous Optical and Near-IR Photometry and Polarimetry of Comet 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We report imaging polarimetry of segments B and C of the Jupiter-family Comet 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 3 in the I and H bandpasses at solar phase angles of approximately 35 and 85deg.

Polarimetry and photometry of the peculiar main-belt object 7968 = 133P/Elst-Pizarro

open access: yes, 2010
133P/Elst-Pizarro is an object that has been described as either an active asteroid or a cometary object in the main asteroid belt. Here we present a photometric and polarimetric study of this object in an attempt to infer additional information about ...

Potentiating Cerebral Perfusion Normalizes Glymphatic Dynamics in Systemic Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LPS‐induced systemic inflammation increases glymphatic influx but delays cervical lymphatic drainage, accompanied by AQP4 depolarization and impaired glymphatic clearance. Enhancing cerebral blood flow via the inotropic agent levosimendan effectively restored AQP4 polarization, improving glymphatic flux and amyloid‐β clearance.

Active Control of Laser Wavefronts in Atom Interferometers

open access: yes, 2017
Wavefront aberrations are identified as a major limitation in quantum sensors. They are today the main contribution in the uncertainty budget of best cold atom interferometers based on two-photon laser beam splitters, and constitute an important limit ...

Clinically Inspired Multimodal Treatment Using Induced Neural Stem Cells‐Derived Exosomes Promotes Recovery of Traumatic Brain Injury through Microglial Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores the therapeutic potential of iNSC‐Exo via local and systemic delivery in TBI mice. It is found that iNSC‐Exo enhances NRXN signaling through Microglia_Nrg3 and Microglia_Rarb, effectively promoting functional and neurological recovery, suggesting a new therapeutic strategy for TBI. Abstract Traumatic brain injury (TBI) poses serious
