Study of alternate optical and fine guidance sensor designs for the space infrared telescope facility (SIRTF) [PDF]

open access: yes
A unique optical design was developed that compensates for the coma degraded images caused by field chopping in SIRTF. The conic constants of a Cassegrain telescope were altered to compensate for the coma induced by the secondary mirror tilt.

Pseudo‐Natural Products Inspired by Aspidospermidine‐, Strychnos‐, and Koumine Monoterpene Indole Alkaloids Reveal Pyrimidine Biosynthesis Inhibitors

open access: yesHelvetica Chimica Acta, EarlyView.
Chemical evolution of alkaloids inspired the synthesis of a monoterpene alkaloid‐inspired pseudo‐natural product compound collection and revealed a novel de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis inhibitor chemotype. ABSTRACT In pseudo‐natural product (PNP) design, natural product fragments are combined in arrangements not found in nature to afford novel ...

Anti‐NMDA receptor autoimmune encephalitis associated with ovarian teratoma: A case series and literature review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 169, Issue 1, Page 23-30, April 2025.
Abstract Autoimmune encephalitis is a group of disorders characterized by symptoms of dysfunction of the limbic and extra‐limbic systems that occur in association with antibodies against intracellular antigens, synapses, or proteins located on the surface of nerve cells. Anti‐NMDA (N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate) receptor encephalitis was first described in 2007

Evaluating Brief Behavioural Activation for depression in adolescents with acquired brain injury using a single‐case experimental design

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Adolescents who have had an acquired brain injury (ABI) commonly experience depression. Brief Behavioural Activation (Brief BA) is a successful, values‐based intervention for managing depression in neurotypical adolescents. This study investigated the effectiveness of Brief BA, using a single‐case experimental design, with ...

Exploring the surface properties of Transneptunian Objects and Centaurs with polarimetric FORS1/VLT observations

open access: yes, 2006
Polarization is a powerful remote-sensing method to investigate solar system bodies. It is an especially sensitive diagnostic tool to reveal physical properties of the bodies whose observational characteristics are governed by small scatterers (dust ...

Exogenous Insulin Antibody Syndrome: An Overlooked Cause of Severe Hypoglycemia and Insulin Resistance in a Patient With Type 2 Diabetes Treated With Insulin

open access: yesJournal of General and Family Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We report an 80‐year‐old man with type 2 diabetes who presented with life‐threatening hypoglycemia (36 mg/dL) and coma, requiring high‐dose insulin (74 units/day). Exogenous insulin antibody syndrome (EIAS) was suspected due to his glycemic instability and high insulin requirements. Subsequent testing confirmed elevated insulin antibodies (8.7

Continuous determination of dissolved inorganic carbon fluxes from pumping suspension feeders

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Suspension‐feeding organisms play a pivotal role in the cycling of carbon in the oceans. They filter large amounts of water, filter out organic matter, remineralize it, and release respiratory CO2 back into the water column. Measuring emissions of respiratory CO2 in situ from suspension feeders poses the challenge of detecting small changes in

Nearly 180° Field‐of‐View Metalens for Miniaturized Imaging Systems

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A compact, single‐layer metalens is developed with an ultra‐wide field of view of ≈180 degrees. Utilizing a unique quadratic phase profile, this metalens overcomes traditional issues like axial and color dispersion. It operates across red, green, and blue wavelengths with non‐polarized light, promising enhanced imaging capabilities for integration into
