Physics‐AI Synergized Optimization‐Learning‐Simulation Framework for Robust Cascade Reservoir Scheduling Under Future Hydrological Uncertainty

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Coordinated optimization of cascade reservoirs is critical for maximizing a river basin's economic, social, and ecological benefits. However, conventional hydropower scheduling lacks adaptability to complex future scenarios, constrained by seasonal hydrological variability and uncertain inflows.

Phase and absorbance retrieval in X‐ray holographic microscopy under weak illumination using physics‐driven neural networks

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 794-805, May 2026.
A physics‐driven deep learning model enables single‐shot retrieval of 3D phase and absorbance from shot‐noise‐limited hard X‐ray holograms. Validated on both synthetic and experimental data, it provides robust reconstruction under weak illumination.X‐ray holographic microscopy is a three‐dimensional (3D) imaging technique for nanoscale‐resolution ...

Evaluating the restoration of plant ecological interactions in gypsum mines with species co‐occurrences analyses

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
These case studies suggest that both seed‐based and seedling‐based approaches can restore pairwise species interactions to a similar extent. The seedling‐based method, although more expensive, provides immediate visual impact by directly introducing canopy‐forming species into the system.

Remote Text‐Supplemented Audiobook Intervention Supports Children's Explicit and Incidental Vocabulary Learning

open access: yesDevelopmental Science, Volume 29, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Vocabulary knowledge is foundational to educational success, but significant gaps exist between students with reading disabilities or those from disadvantaged backgrounds and their peers. These gaps have cascading effects, as children with lower vocabulary knowledge are less likely to acquire new words through independent reading and are less ...

Edge Effect on the Distribution of the Green Shield Bug Palomena prasina in Hazelnut Orchards, and the Role of Adjacent Habitats in Crop Colonization

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 5, Page 461-474, May 2026.
Spring–Summer spatial dynamics of Palomena prasina (L.) and potential IPM strategies. ABSTRACT Palomena prasina (L.) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), the green shield bug (GSB), is an important hazelnut pest in Southern Europe. Currently, its control focuses on insecticide spraying during the crop season. We hypothesized that, as for other pentatomid species,

Modeling and generating user‐centered contrastive explanations for the workforce scheduling and routing problem

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 1525-1558, May 2026.
Abstract In the last decade, explainability has been attracting much attention in the machine learning community. However, this research topic extends beyond this field to encompass others such as operations research and combinatorial optimization (CO).
