Solving generic nonarchimedean semidefinite programs using stochastic game algorithms

open access: yes, 2016
A general issue in computational optimization is to develop combinatorial algorithms for semidefinite programming. We address this issue when the base field is nonarchimedean.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Cost-sharing in Parking Games [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science
In this paper, we study the total displacement statistic of parking functions from the perspective of cooperative game theory. We introduce parking games, which are coalitional cost-sharing games in characteristic function form derived from the total ...

Larger Corner-Free Sets from Better NOF Exactly-$N$ Protocols

open access: yesDiscrete Analysis, 2021
Larger corner-free sets from better NOF exactly-$N$ protocols, Discrete Analysis 2021:19, 9 pp. If $G$ is an Abelian group, then a _corner_ in $G^2$ is a subset of the form $\{(x,y),(x+d,y),(x,y+d)\}$ with $d\ne 0$.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Analyse et organisation d’une situation didactique « débranchée » pour découvrir l’IA, à l’interface entre mathématiques et informatique : la machine qui apprend à gagner à un jeu de Nim

open access: yesAnnales de Didactique et de Sciences Cognitives
This article offers a didactic analysis of an activity derived from scientific outreach, at the interface between mathematics and computer science. We analyse an activity based on a particular combinatorial game and a machine which learns to win at this ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.
