Classical Techniques of Combinatorial Group Theory
2004In this chapter, we give a brief exposition of several classical techniques in combinatorial group theory, namely methods of Nielsen, Schreier, Whitehead, and Tietze and the free differential calculus due to Fox. We do not go into details here because there are two very well-established monographs where a complete exposition of these techniques is ...

Crypto applications of combinatorial group theory
2011The design of a large number of cryptographic primitives is based on the intractability of the traditional discrete logarithm problem (tDLP). However, the well known quantum algorithm of P. Shor [9] solves the tDLP in polynomial time, thus rendering all cryptographic schemes based on tDLP ineffective, should quantum computers become a practical reality.
