The combinatorial structure of trigonometry

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2003
The native mathematical language of trigonometry is combinatorial. Two interrelated combinatorial symmetric functions underlie trigonometry. We use their characteristics to derive identities for the trigonometric functions of multiple distinct angles ...

Some Types of Identities Involving the Legendre Polynomials

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
In this paper, a new non-linear recursive sequence is firstly introduced. Then, using this sequence, a computational problem involving the convolution of the Legendre polynomial is studied using the basic and combinatorial methods.

A combinatorial identity with application to Catalan numbers

open access: yes, 2005
By a very simple argument, we prove that if $l,m,n$ are nonnegative integers then $$\sum_{k=0}^l(-1)^{m-k}\binom{l}{k}\binom{m-k}{n}\binom{2k}{k-2l+m} =\sum_{k=0}^l\binom{l}{k}\binom{2k}{n}\binom{n-l}{m+n-3k-l}.

Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

Preferences of Pediatric Patients and Their Caregivers for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Control Endpoints: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

Shortest path poset of finite Coxeter groups [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2009
We define a poset using the shortest paths in the Bruhat graph of a finite Coxeter group $W$ from the identity to the longest word in $W, w_0$. We show that this poset is the union of Boolean posets of rank absolute length of $w_0$; that is, any shortest

Pediatric Oncology Nursing Competencies in Latin America and the Caribbean: A Scoping Review to Inform Practice, Education, and Research

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Nurses are central to cancer care for children and adolescents, yet no comprehensive synthesis has defined essential core competencies for pediatric oncology nursing (PON) practice internationally, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

Spanning forests, electrical networks, and a determinant identity [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2009
We aim to generalize a theorem on the number of rooted spanning forests of a highly symmetric graph to the case of asymmetric graphs. We show that this can be achieved by means of an identity between the minor determinants of a Laplace matrix, for which ...

Prevalence and Trajectory of Household Material Hardship Among Children With Advanced Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Families of children with advanced cancer living in poverty experience inferior outcomes including poor parent mental health and worse child quality of life. Household material hardship (HMH: food, housing, transportation, and/or utility insecurity) is a modifiable poverty exposure—and potential intervention target—that ...

Combinatorial Identities for Incomplete Tribonacci Polynomials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The incomplete tribonacci polynomials, denoted by T_n^{(s)}(x), generalize the usual tribonacci polynomials T_n(x) and were introduced in [10], where several algebraic identities were shown.
