Combination of “combinations of p values” [PDF]
We investigate the impact of an uncertain number of false individual null hypotheses on commonly used p value combination methods. Under such uncertainty, these methods perform quite differently and often yield conflicting results. Consequently, we develop a combination of “combinations of p values” (CCP) test aimed at maintaining good power properties

Combining analyses, combining optimizations [PDF]
Modern optimizing compilers use several passes over a program's intermediate representation to generate good code. Many of these optimizations exhibit a phase-ordering problem. Getting the best code may require iterating optimizations until a fixed point is reached.

The ability to model search in a constraint solver can be an essential asset for solving combinatorial problems. However, existing infrastructure for defining search heuristics is often inadequate. Either modeling capabilities are extremely limited or users are faced with a general-purpose programming language whose features are not tailored towards ...

In 2017, Bauer, Johnson, Osborne, Riehl, and Tebbe (BJORT) showed that the Abelian functor calculus provides an example of a Cartesian differential category. The definition of a Cartesian differential category is based on a differential combinator which directly formalizes the total derivative from multivariable calculus. However, in the aforementioned

Polymyxins: To Combine or Not to Combine? [PDF]
Polymyxins have been a mainstay for the treatment of extensively drug resistant (XDR) Gram-negative bacteria for the past two decades. Many questions regarding the clinical use of polymyxins have been answered, but whether the administration of polymyxins in combination with other antibiotics leads to better outcomes remains unknown.

Combined treatment for a combined enlargement
Calcium channel blockers are widely used in medical practice for the management of hypertension and in the prophylaxis of angina. Gingival overgrowth is now a recognized unwanted effect associated with many of calcium channel blockers. This can have a significant effect on the quality of life as well as increasing the oral bacterial load by generating ...

Dynamic Factor Model and Artificial Neural Network Models: To Combine Forecasts or Combine Models? [PDF]
In this chapter, we evaluate the forecasting performance of the model combination and forecast combination of the dynamic factor model (DFM) and the artificial neural networks (ANNs). For the model combination, the factors that are extracted from a large
