To combine or not to combine? A literature review of antidepressant combination therapy
Journal of Affective Disorders, 2005Treatment resistant depression is a common clinical problem and a major public health concern. The use of antidepressant combinations to overcome treatment resistance, while somewhat controversial, is a popular strategy in practice. This paper reviews published trials on combination antidepressants with a view to inform clinical practice.A systematic ...

To combine or not to combine: selecting among forecasts and their combinations
International Journal of Forecasting, 2005Abstract Much research shows that combining forecasts improves accuracy relative to individual forecasts. In this paper we present experiments, using the 3003 series of the M3-competition, that challenge this belief: on average across the series, the best individual forecasts, based on post-sample performance, perform as well as the best combinations.

The CMS Statistical Analysis and Combination Tool: Combine
AbstractThis paper describes the Combine software package used for statistical analyses by the CMS Collaboration. The package, originally designed to perform searches for a Higgs boson and the combined analysis of those searches, has evolved to become the statistical analysis tool presently used in the majority of measurements and searches performed by

Combinatory logic deals with combinators and reduction, illative combinatory logic is an extension of this theory within which intuitionistic predicate logic can be developed in a natural way. Combinator logic, developed here, is quite different to either.

Segment-based packet combining in a cluster: To combine or not to combine?
2010 Sixth International Conference on Intelligent Sensors, Sensor Networks and Information Processing, 2010Segment-based packet combining schemes are an attractive approach towards link-layer packet combining for memory-constrained sensor nodes. We consider the usage of segment-based combining schemes in a dense cluster of relayers. We show that with two or more relayers the segment-based scheme provides a higher probability for the cluster to possess the ...

AbstractThe availability of new vaccines for pediatric use provides an unprecedented opportunity to prevent serious infectious diseases and their associated morbidity and mortality. However, each new product entails the need for additional injections that could become so numerous as to discourage the administration of new vaccines.

We present a general technique for dynamizing a class of problems whose underlying structure is a computation graph embedded in a tree. We associate values, called {\em attributes}, with the nodes, paths, and subtrees of our trees. Path attributes form a {\em path attribute system}, if they are maintained in constant time under path concatenation ...

Combination drug therapy for combined hyperlipidemia
Current Cardiology Reports, 1999Combination therapy for hyperlipidemia, especially combined hyperlipidemia, may have advantages over single drug therapy, affording better improvement in lipoprotein risk factors and possibly better prevention of atherothrombotic events. Although preliminary experience has been gained using treatment combinations of niacin with statins, and fibrates ...
