Experimental and Numerical Analysis of a 10 MW Floating Offshore Wind Turbine in Regular Waves

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) experience fluctuations in their platforms, owing to the various wave and wind conditions. These fluctuations not only decrease the output of the wind power generation system, but also increase the fatigue load of ...

The association between alcohol exposure and self-reported health status: the effect of separating former and current drinkers. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
To investigate the direction and degree of potential bias introducedto analyses of drinking and health status which exclude former drinkers from exposure groups.Pooled analysis of 14 waves (1997-2010) of the U.S.

Numerical Simulations of Scour around Vertical Wall Abutments with Varying Aspect Ratios under Combined Waves and Current Flows

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
The present study employs numerical simulations to investigate vertical wall abutment scour with different aspect ratios (B/L, where B is the abutment length in the flow direction, and L is the abutment length transverse to the flow direction) under the ...

Initial Motion in Combined Wave and Current Flows

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1988, 1988
Measurements are presented of the conditions for the initial motion of sediment under combined steady and oscillatory flow. The measurements were made in a steady flow flume with an oscillating tray set into its bed. The direction of oscillation of the tray was at right angles to the axis of the steady flow flume.

Experimental Study of Local Scour Around an Downstream Inclined Pile Under Combined Waves and Current

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2021
With the rise of development and utilization of marine resources, inclined pile foundation with good horizontal bearing capacity has been widely used as marine structures such as cross-sea bridge, offshore platform and high pile wharf.

Incipient motion of sediment in wave and combined wave-current boundary layers

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2014
Based on the theory of wave boundary layers and the Shields curve, the criterion curve is developed for the incipient motion of sediment in a wave boundary layer in this study.

Measurement of Sediment Suspension in Combinations of Waves and Currents

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1972, 1972
The paper describes a procedure for obtaining field data on the mean concentration of sediments in combination of waves and currents outside the breaker zone, as well as some results of such measurements. It is assumed that the current turbulence alone is responsible for the maintenance of the concentration profile above a thin layer close to the ...

Semantic and Syntactic Processing During Comprehension: ERP Evidence From Chinese QING Structure

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2021
Previous studies used BA and BEI structures as stimuli to infer that syntax-first models seemed not applicable in Chinese. However, there were inconsistent results of both within same structures and between different structures. Since sentence structures

Combined Wave-Current Forces on Horizontal Cylinders

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1982, 1982
Some early results are reported from an investigation of the forces exerted on horizontal cylinders by waves and currents. It appears that the values of the inertia coefficients decrease as U/uQ increases, and the drag coefficients decrease also, for values of U/uQ up to 0.7.

Vertical Momentum Transport by Internal Gravity Waves Above the Equatorial Undercurrent at 140°W

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Strong vertical shears occur in the upper Equatorial Ocean as the trade winds drive the South Equatorial Current westward above the eastward flowing Equatorial Undercurrent.
