Abstract A description is given of the “elbow” combustion chamber, developed for use in the gas-turbine power plant designed and built for the United States Navy by the Elliott Company. This type provides extremely high heat-release rates which is an essential characteristic for gas-turbine applications. The fuel-oil-burning system which

Wittgenstein's combustion chamber
Notes and Records of the Royal Society, 2009Ludwig Wittgenstein, destined to be one of the most influential philosophers of the western world, entered Manchester University in 1908 as an aeronautical engineering research student. At Manchester he devised and patented a novel aero-engine that employed propeller-blade tip-jets.

Combustion chamber is a main component for Diesel, as it organizes the fuel-air mixing and combustion processes and eventually determines Diesel performance. In the past decades, the chamber turned into the higher radius-to-depth ratio and lower area-to-volume ratio type to increase the in-cylinder air utilization and promote the fuel spray spreading.

Feedback control of combustion oscillations in combustion chambers
Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation, 2010Abstract Model-based algorithms are generally employed in active control of combustion oscillations. Since practical combustion processes consist of complex thermal and acoustic couplings, their accurate models and parameters may not be obtained in advance economically, a model free controller is necessary for the control of thermoacoustic ...

Combustion is a chemical reaction that occurs between a fuel and an oxidizing agent that produces energy, usually in the form of heat and light. During combustion, oxygen is combined with different elements of the fuel, like carbon, hydrogen, sulfur, etc. and produces the respective oxides.

The simulation of combustion flow of the supersonic combustion chamber
17th AIAA International Space Planes and Hypersonic Systems and Technologies Conference, 2011The phenomenon of supersonic combustion chamber is very complex, full of shock wave system, expansion wave system. It is related to the supersonic, hypersonic flows in the shock/shock intersection, shock wave and boundary layer interaction, separated flow, fuel flow, as well as the complex structure of vortex structures.

Combustion oscillations in industrial combustion chambers
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1969Combustion roar is a “white” noise radiated from small regions in the flame which suddenly burn. Single frequency oscillations of the simple acoustic type in the combustion chamber (“screaming”) have a frequency 500 cps upwards; Helmholtz resonator oscillations have a frequency of the order of 10 times lower and occur fairly frequently in oil- and gas ...

Bipropellant combustion in a liquid rocket combustion chamber
Journal of Propulsion and Power, 1992A comprehensive computer simulation code is developed for the combustion-flow analysis of a bipropellant liquid rocket engine combustor. A bipropellant group combustion model is built in the computer code to facilitate the determination of various combustion modes, including the combustion of oxidizer droplets, fuel droplets and gas mixture.
