Pulsating regimes of flames propagation in a model with chain-branching reaction [PDF]
In this paper we investigate propagation of planar combustion waves in an adiabatic model with two-step chain branching reaction mechanism. Pulsating instabilities are found to emerge for fuel Lewis number greater than one due to a Hopf bifurcation.

The intermittent nature of operation and unpredictable availability of renewable sources of energy (e.g., wind and solar) would require the combustors in fossil-fuel power plants, sharing the same grid, to operate with large turn-down ratios. This brings

Experimental Investigation of Flame Anchoring Behavior in a LOX/LNG Rocket Combustor
Hot fire tests of a multi-injector research combustor were performed with liquid-oxygen and liquefied-natural-gas (LOX/LNG) propellants at chamber pressures from 30 up to 67 bar, hence at conditions similar to an upper stage rocket engine.

Numerical Analysis of Self-Excited Combustion Instabilities in a Small MMH/NTO Liquid Rocket Engine
Combustion instabilities in a small MMH/NTO liquid rocket engine used for satellite attitude and course control are numerically investigated. A three-dimensional Navier-Stokes code is developed to simulate two-phase spray combustion for cases with five ...

Cycle-Resolved Computations of Stratified-Charge Turbulent Combustion in Direct Injection Engine
An extremely lean burning engine has been expected to improve fuel consumption rate of engines. To achieve this, stable combustion should be realized for a wide range of operating conditions at air-fuel ratio over 40.0.

3D convolutional selective autoencoder for instability detection in combustion systems
While analytical solutions of critical (phase) transitions in dynamical systems are abundant for simple nonlinear systems, such analysis remains intractable for real-life dynamical systems. A key example is thermoacoustic instability in combustion, where

Numerical Simulations of Combustion Instabilities in a Combustor with an Augmentor-Like Geometry
With the goal of assessing the capability of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to simulate combustion instabilities, the present work considers a premixed, bluff-body-stabilized combustor with well-defined inlet and outlet boundary conditions.
