Effect of thermal expansion on the linear stability of planar premixed flames for a simple chain-branching model: The high activation energy asymptotic limit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The linear stability of freely propagating, adiabatic, planar premixed ames is investigated in the context of a simple chain-branching chemistry model consisting of a chain-branching reaction step and a completion reaction step.

Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Data-Based In-Cylinder Pressure Model with Cyclic Variations for Combustion Control: An RCCI Engine Application

open access: yesEnergies
Cylinder-pressure-based control is a key enabler for advanced pre-mixed combustion concepts. In addition to guaranteeing robust and safe operation, it allows for cylinder pressure and heat release shaping.

Evaporation and Ignition of Isolated Fuel Drops in an Oxidizing Environment: Analytical Study Based on Varshavskii’s ‘Diffusion Theory’

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Varshavskii’s ‘Diffusion Theory’, less investigated due to its limited international visibility, can offer one of the simplest and, on the other hand, high-accuracy methods for evaluating the ignition delay of fossil fuel and biofuel droplets, including ...

Research of the coal dust size range influence on low-temperature vortex combustion based on numerical simulation

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
Low-temperature vortex combustion numerical simulation was performed using FIRE-3D software. Low-temperature vortex combustion aerodynamic and heat-and-mass transfer versus coal dust size range characteristic were analysed.
