Pressure Oscillations During Rapid HCCI Combustion
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2003<div class="htmlview paragraph">This work has focused on studying the in-cylinder pressure fluctuations caused by rapid HCCI combustion and determine what they consist of. Inhomogeneous autoignition sets up pressure waves traversing the combustion chamber. These pressure waves induce high gas velocities which causes increased heat transfer to the

Oscillations in a combustible gas bubble
Combustion Theory and Modelling, 1998The dynamical behaviour of an isolated combustible gas bubble surrounded by unlimited inviscid liquid is analysed in the case of large activation energy and using spatially uniform assumptions. The pressure effect is crucial in this problem because of the limited gas volume.

Active Feedback Control of Combustion Oscillations
4th International Symposium on Fluid-Structure Interactions, Aeroelasticity, Flow-Induced Vibration and Noise: Volume II, 1997Abstract Combustion oscillations are excited by a feedback mechanism which results from the coupling between the flame instability and an acoustic resonance mode of the combustion chamber. The most important event of this mechanism is believed to be the upstream feedback from the acoustic resonance to the initial region of the flame ...

An intriguing oscillating combustion phenomenon
2012Strobes are pyrotechnic compositions that emit bright flashes of white or colored light at regular time intervals. The strobe effect has applications in various fields, most notably in the fireworks industry and in the military area (signaling – missile decoys – crowd control).

Modeling and Control of Combustion Oscillations
Volume 2: Turbo Expo 2005, 2005Clean combustion, with low levels of pollutants, can be achieved by burning lean and premixed. Unfortunately, these are just the conditions that cause self-excited oscillations which can become so intense that they break the combustor. Many gas-fuelled power stations have suffered damage in this way and been unable to achieve their designed power and ...

The relaxation oscillation in ramjet combustion
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1981A mechanism of low frequency relaxation oscillation in ram jet combustion is proposed. Initial pressure disturbances induce combustion instability which results in periodic heat release. Acting as feedback, the periodic heat release boosts the pressure pulsations.
