Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Simulation of convective combustion reactions in PBX based on DEM–CPM

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Convective combustion is a characteristic process in the violent evolution of polymer-bonded explosives (PBX), which increases the reaction and causes rapid pressurization, high reaction violent explosion, or deflagration to detonation. Thus, simulations

A new comprehensive reaction mechanism for combustion of hydrocarbon fuels [PDF]

open access: yesCombustion and Flame, 1994
Abstract A detailed chemical kinetic model has been developed that accurately describes pyrolysis, ignition and oxidation of many small hydrocarbon fuels over a wide range of experimental conditions. Fuels include carbon monoxide and hydrogen methane, and other alkane species up to n -butane, ethylene, propene, acetylene, and oxygenated species such

Positively Charged Polymer‐Brush MOFs for Large‐Area, Pressure‐Resistant Gas Separation Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A universal POPA strategy enables positively charged polymer‐brush MOFs with self‐adaptive interfacial interlocking to resist aggregation under fast processing. This design ensures seamless dispersion within large‐area selective layers, achieving 1 m‐wide roll‐to‐roll fabrication of pressure‐resistant MMCMs with tunable CO2 separation performance ...

Designing Strong, Tough, Fire‐Retardant and Self‐Healing Elastomers with Phosphorus/Nitrogen‐ and Biphenyl‐Containing Segments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
By designing a P/N‐ and π–π interacting biphenyl‐containing diol as hard segments but side groups, a strong, tough, fire‐extinguishing and self‐healing elastomer is developed, demonstrating a break strain of ∼2500%, a toughness of 379 MJ/m3 and a tensile strength of 46 MPa, as well as a healing efficiency of 95% (tensile strength) and 99% (break strain)

A Bee Colony Neuro-Fuzzy Controller to Improve Well Premixed Combustion

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering, 2023
In order to actively control combustion reaction, this study proposes an adaptive neuro-fuzzy (ANFIS) control scheme of interaction between premixed combustion reaction and acoustic flame perturbation where the flame pressure movement will be considered ...

Ultrathin Li Metal Anodes: Quantitative Design Principles and Manufacturability Across Liquid and Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrathin lithium metal anodes (≤15 µm) offer a promising route to high‐energy‐density batteries due to their high capacity and low potential. This review presents design principles for ultrathin Li, evaluates fabrication strategies, and discusses challenges in liquid and solid‐state cells.

In-situ Combustion Simulation from Laboratory to Field Scale

open access: yesGeofluids, 2021
In-situ combustion simulation from laboratory to field scale has always been challenging, due to difficulties in deciding the reaction model and Arrhenius kinetics parameters, together with erroneous results observed in simulations when using large-sized

Linker‐Engineered Dimeric Acceptors Afford Efficient Organic Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution via Tailored Nanomorphology for Long‐Lived Charge Accumulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a new series of monomeric (MY) and dimeric acceptors incorporating unfused (DY1) and fused (DY2) linkers, which establish a controlled self‐aggregation trend of MY > DY2 > DY1. The DY2‐based system yields a bulk‐heterojunction nanoparticle morphology that appears to balance phase separation and interfacial accessibility, consistent with ...
