Context. We present the COMetary dust TAIL Simulator (COMTAILS), a numerical Monte Carlo code to generate images of dust tail brightness from comets and active asteroids in the Solar System. Aims. We describe a numerical code, available to interested users, capable of generating simulated images of dust tail brightness for comparison with observations,

Abstract Libyan Desert Glass (LDG) is an ~29 million years old, silica‐rich glass found in Western Egypt. Whether this glass formed in an impact cratering context associated with the hypervelocity collision of a cometary/asteroidal body or radiative heating during an airburst is debated. Determination of the formation temperatures and pressures of rare

The Bimetallic Nanozyme Amplifier (PEG@AuCZ@CC) to maximize hydrogen peroxide production and reprogram tumor metabolism from glycolysis to oxidative phosphorylation. This shift enhances ferroptotic/cuproptotic signaling cascades and creates a glucose‐enriched but lactate‐depleted tumor microenvironment (TME), effectively overcoming immune tolerance in ...

Two dust populations of particle fragments in the striated tail of Comet MRKOS 1957 V
The striated tail of Comet Mrkos 1957 V is investigated. The formation and motions of the striae are described by the same particle-fragmentation model that has been successfully applied to Comet West. Two new kinds of striae are discovered, one made of absorbing particles and the other of essentially nonabsorbing ones.

Dust shells and dark linear structures on dust tails of historical and recent long-period comets
Context. Dust halos or shells, along with linear dark structures along the axes of dust tails, are commonly observed in many long- period comets near perihelion. Examples range from the recent C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) to historical comets such as the Great Comet of 1874, C/1874 H1 (Coggia). Aims.

A Monte Carlo inverse dust tail modeling of ground-based images of comet 29P/Schwasssmann-Wachmann 1 has been performed. The images of the comet were acquired on several nights in 2004 July, a few days after the 2004 perihelion passage. The analysis takes into account the rotation properties of the comet, incorporating dust ejection from active areas ...
