Detectability of Dust and Ion Tails of Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS by Europa Clipper

Research Notes of the AAS
Abstract The Europa Clipper spacecraft is located about 1 au downstream from the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS around its perihelion. Here we model the propagation of pickup ions and cometary dust originating from 3I/ATLAS to examine their detectability by the Europa Clipper spacecraft.

Abstract A quantitative analysis of three wide-field photographs of Comet P/Halley obtained between 3 and 6 May 1986 has been carried out. The digitally processed maps were used as input for the Monte Carlo approach to interpreting cometary dust tails.
