Comet — A new method for the deterministic test pattern generation in c-circuits
Microelectronics Reliability, 1994Abstract An original method (COnvergency METhod, COMET) is presented for the deterministic test pattern generation in c-circuits (combinational logic circuits), which issues a completely new theoretic approach to the Automatic Test Pattern Generation (ATPG) problem. It defines a test pattern by a pair of appropriate subgraphs (CONtrollability Graphs,

Generation of X-rays from Comet C/Hyakutake 1996 B2
Science, 1997The instability resulting from the relative motion of newly picked-up cometary photoions and the solar wind generates lower hybrid waves that are capable of accelerating electrons to the keV range of energies. These electrons may be responsible for the x-rays from comet C/Hyakutake 1996 B2 seen by the Röntgen X-ray Satellite.

The Correction of Myopia Evaluation Trial (COMET): design and general baseline characteristics.
Controlled clinical trials, 2001The Correction of Myopia Evaluation Trial (COMET) is a multicenter, randomized, double-masked, controlled clinical trial evaluating whether there is a difference in the progression of myopia between children wearing progressive addition lenses (PALs) versus conventional single vision lenses (SVLs), as measured by cycloplegic autorefraction.

X-rays from comets generated by energetic solar wind particles
Planetary and Space Science, 1998Abstract By means of axisymmetric hydrodynamic models with chemistry we study the X-ray emission of two processes in a comet: Bremsstrahlung of solar wind electrons interacting with the neutral gas coma, and charge exchange of heavy solar wind ions in high ionization states with the neutral cometary gas.

One important aspect of cancer is its capacity to generate metastasis. The mechanism by which one or several neoplastic cells escape from the primitive tumor to start the metastatic process is still a matter of discussion, hence the need to reconsider under which circumstances and conditions 'lethal escape' is produced.

Upstream and downstream propagating waves generated by pickup ions near comet Halley
Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1996It is well known that most of the Alfvén waves generated in the solar wind by cometary ion pickup are propagating upstream in the solar wind reference frame. However, the magnitude of the small proportion propagating downstream is extremely important because it controls the amount of ion acceleration driven by the second order Fermi process.

Pacer Comet 4: Next Generation Automated Testing of Gas Turbine Engines
2006 IEEE Autotestcon, 2006This paper demonstrates the advantages and main design features of the Pacer Comet 4 system intended to test gas turbine engines for the United States Air Force. Building upon the existing test cell system and applying both technological advancements and lessons learned, Pacer Comet 4 will replace the aging Pacer Comet III (PC3) system which has served

The observation of comet C/2000 WM1 (LINEAR) with XMM-Newton is a highlight in the field of cometary research. During 17 hours of almost uninterrupted observations, more than one million photons were recorded with unprecedented spectral resolution. The results obtained so far clearly demonstrate that the X-ray emission is caused by charge exchange ...

Mars as a Comet: Local Generation of Mirror Modes by Pickup Protons
Mirror mode structures are born from a plasma instability driven by a large temperature anisotropy and appear downstream of planetary and interplanetary shocks, in their magnetosheath. As magnetic bottles imprisoning dense and hot plasma, they are usually observed downstream of their region of formation, where the anisotropy is large and free energy isCyril L.
