Correlational analysis between joint-level kinetics of countermovement jumps and weightlifting derivatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanical similarity between net joint moments (NJM) of the countermovement jump (CMJ) and the hang power clean (HPC) and jump shrug (JS).

Comfort Empowers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A student threw his paper at me demanding that I “fix it.” He could not admit the struggles he faced with writing and the university, juggling a tough schedule, feeling disconnected from his peers and professors, and constantly having his flaws magnified.

Intraoperative Collection of Ascitic Fluid With Intra‐ or Postoperative Reinfusion in Ovarian Cancer: Safety and Feasibility of a Roller Pumping Method

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients with ovarian cancer often present with massive ascites, leading to significant protein loss during surgical procedures. Although cell‐free concentrated ascites reinfusion therapy (CART) is used in palliative settings to mitigate protein loss, its application in intraoperative settings remains unexplored.

Combined Evaluation of Room Acoustic Descriptors in Different Structural Configurations via ODEON Simulations and Artificial Neural Networks

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics
This study evaluated the combined sensitivity analysis of several room acoustic descriptors: reverberation time (T30), center time (Ts), early decay time (EDT), definition (D50), clarity (C50), useful-to-detrimental sound ratio (U50), and speech ...

Parameter identification approach to represent building thermal dynamics reducing tuning time of control system gains: A case study in a tropical climate

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2022
As one of the main consumers of primary energy globally, buildings have been among the main targets for implementing energy efficiency solutions, such as building control strategies that maintain occupant comfort and reduce operating costs. The design of

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Evaluation of in vitro toxicity of common phytochemicals included in weight loss supplements using 1H NMR spectroscopy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the toxicity of 12 active compounds commonly found in herbal weight loss supplements (WLS) using human liver and colon cell models. Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate was the only compound showing significant toxicity. Metabolic profiling revealed protein degradation, disrupted energy and lipid metabolism suggesting that the inclusion of EGCG ...

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...
