Antidiabetic effect of Commelina benghalensis leaf extracts-An in vitro study

The in vitro anti-diabetic effect of a methanolic extract of C. benghalensis was examined through suppression of enzymes that break down carbohydrates. Compared to the common enzyme inhibitor Acarbose, the crude extracts of C. benghalensis both α -glucosidase and α -amylase were severely inhibited.
