MANEJO QUÍMICO DE ESPÉCIES DE TRAPOERABA COM APLICAÇÃO ISOLADA E EM MISTURA DE DIFERENTES HERBICIDAS

open access: yesRevista Caatinga, 2012
This paper evaluated the effect of different herbicides applied isolated and mixed on two species of dayflower (Commelina benghalensis and Commelina villosa). Both species were grown under pot conditions with a capacity of 14 L.

A Deep Metagenomic Snapshot as a Proof‐of‐Concept for Resource Generation: Simultaneous Assembly of Host, Food, and Microbiome Genomes From Stingless Bee Larval Food

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2025.
This study serves as a proof‐of‐concept, demonstrating that deep shotgun sequencing of a single complex sample—stingless bee larval food—can simultaneously generate multiple genomic resources. From this dataset, we assembled three genomes (a near‐complete bacterium, a draft host mitochondrion, and a fragmented plant chloroplast) with varying ...

Off‐season crops as a strategy for renovating degraded pastures and improving maize yield in a low‐altitude tropical region

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 117, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
Abstract Brazil can expand cultivated areas without deforestation by restoring degraded pastures and optimizing grain production through off‐season crops. This study evaluated eight off‐season treatments, including fallow, monocrops, and intercropping combinations, and their effects on maize (Zea mays L.) intercropped with guinea grass (Megathyrsus ...

Sex expression and breeding strategy in Commelina benghalensis L.

open access: yesJournal of Biosciences, 2009
This paper describes the results of a series of experiments conducted to unravel the patterns of sex expression and reproductive output in a fascinating species with high variation in sexuality. Commelina benghalensis L., an andromonoecious rainy season weed, bears male and bisexual flowers in axillary spathes of all the plants investigated.
