The performance of ChatGPT and other large language models on multiple‐choice questions in biomedical disciplines: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract While large language models (LLMs) have shown promise as learning tools for medical education, their reported accuracy on multiple‐choice questions (MCQs) varies widely across studies, necessitating synthesis. This meta‐analysis synthesizes LLM accuracy on text‐based MCQs from biomedical disciplines and USMLE Step 1‐level content and explores ...

Digital innovation for a greener future: the role of artificial intelligence in Europe's biofuel transition

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigates the relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) development and biofuel production using a balanced panel dataset of 12 European Union (EU) countries over the 2008–2024 period. Employing feasible generalized least squares (FGLS) estimation with distributed lag specifications, the analysis controls for Renewable ...

Discovery of CRBN‐based molecular glue degraders targeting WIZ transcription factor

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Chemical Society, EarlyView.
This work reports the discovery of 9l, a novel cereblon‐based molecular glue degrader which targets the WIZ transcription factor. Compound 9l facilitates WIZ‐CRBN ternary complex formation to degrade WIZ, subsequently inducing γ‐globin expression in HUDEP‐2 cells and highlighting its potential as a sickle cell disease therapy.

Protein thermal stability in the undergraduate biochemistry laboratory: Exploring protein thermal stability with yeast alcohol dehydrogenase

open access: yesBiochemistry and Molecular Biology Education, Volume 53, Issue 2, Page 209-217, March/April 2025.
Abstract We created a novel laboratory experience where undergraduate students explore the techniques used to study protein misfolding, unfolding, and aggregation. Despite the importance of protein misfolding and aggregation diseases, protein unfolding is not typically explored in undergraduate biochemistry laboratory classes.

Tetraspanin‐ESCRT sorting drives miR‐29b packaging into extracellular vesicles to reverse fibrosis in intrauterine adhesions

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
MiR‐29b is enriched in extracellular vesicles (EVs) via a tetraspanin transporter‐dependent endocytosis and sorting complex required for the endosomal transport (ESCRT)‐dependent pathway. These EVs target the 3′ untranslated region (3′UTR) of TGFB2, thereby inhibiting the TGF‐β/Smad3 signaling pathway and repairing endometrial damage in intrauterine ...
