REVENUE RISK AND FISHERY CHOICE WITH LINEAR-EXPONENTIAL UTILITY: AN APPLICATION TO BERING SEA/ALEUTIAN ISLANDS TRAWL FISHERIES [PDF]

open access: yes
A discrete choice model of 1991-96 trawl groundfish fishery participation in the Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands region is developed and estimated. The model fits well, with strong risk and seasonal effects.

Cournot Oligopoly in Commercial Fisheries

open access: yesPittsburgh Undergraduate Review
This paper analyzes commercial fisheries through the lens of a Cournot oligopoly model to explain persistent overfishing under open access conditions. This paper models fishers as profit-maximizing firms that compete for harvest quantities, resulting in the exploitation of a shared, renewable fish stock.

Socioeconomic and bioeconomic performance of Philippine fisheries in the recent decades [PDF]

open access: yes
The fishing industry in the Philippines was tantamount to a marine capture fishery in the 1950s to 1960s. Aquaculture and inland fishery production were not significant.

Atomized Oxidative Polymerization as a 3D Printing Platform for Binder‐Free, Bulk Conductive Polymer Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Co‐delivery of electrosprayed EDOT and oxidant enables bulk oxidative polymerization during layer‐by‐layer fabrication, creating stable, highly conductive 3D PEDOT structures. This Atomized Oxidative Polymerization (AOP) overcomes the surface deposition‐only and matrix‐limited conductivity of conventional Vapor Phase Polymerization (VPP) and PEDOT:PSS ...

A BIOECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF MANAGEMENT ALTERNATIVES FOR THE U.S. NORTH ATLANTIC SWORDFISH FISHERY [PDF]

open access: yes
A bioeconomic model of the North Atlantic swordfish (Xiphias gladius) fishery is developed to evaluate policy-relevant management options as changes from the status quo.

Interlayer Expansion of Bulk MoS2 via Top‐Down Organic Pillaring Enables Tunable Li+ Intercalation and Controlled Solvent Co‐Intercalation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Top‐down organic pillaring expands the interlayer spacing of bulk‐sized MoS2 particles while preserving the bulk morphology. Operando X‐ray diffraction and electrochemical dilatometry show that MoS2‐bulk undergoes solvent co‐intercalation in diglyme electrolyte, causing large structural expansion, while pillared, expanded MoS2 suppresses solvent uptake
