Computed tomography long‐term follow‐up of a facial fracture involving the orbit and paranasal sinus
Abstract Background Fractures of the facial bones involving the orbit are challenging conditions that require surgical treatment. Objectives To describe preoperative and postoperative clinical and computed tomographic findings of an orbital rim fracture repaired using a reconstruction plate. Study Design Case report.

Abstract BACKGROUND Accelerated weathering of limestone (AWL) using waste limestone (WL) for industrially relevant CO2 capture remains underexplored. Previous studies on potable water‐operated AWL have mainly examined idealised conditions, such as the use of high‐purity limestone or relatively low CO2 concentrations, which may not reflect selected ...

Exploring biofiber properties and their influence on biocomposite tensile properties
The study measured the physical, flow and chemical properties of 10 biofibers. It characterized the tensile properties of derived biocomposites and linked them using regression models, showing robust predictive performance. Abstract Biofibers serve as effective reinforcements for neat polylactic acid (PLA) in biocomposites, offering an attractive ...

A review of the benefits for comminution circuits offered by rock blasting
Rock blasting is the first phase of comminution, completed by mechanical means downstream in the crushing and milling phases. Nevertheless, mineral processers and blasters seldom work together.

Conventional synthesis of wurtzite gallium nitride (GaN) quantum dots (QDs) demands extreme heat. We overcome this via defect‐driven fragmentation at 50°C. Nitrogen‐rich solvents provide a thermodynamic driving force that promotes the outward movement of internal defects.

Characteristics of boli formed by dairy cows upon ingestion of fresh ryegrass, lucerne or chicory
This study examined the comminution of fresh herbage, subsequent nutrient release, and the characteristics of swallowed boli from three physically and chemically contrasting forages during ingestive mastication by dairy cows.

Abstract Indirect fractures from gunshot wounds can occur when a projectile impacts soft tissue without making direct contact with the bone. Existing biomechanical and clinical research suggests that indirect fractures result in lower levels of comminution, and that resultant fracture patterns can resemble those seen in blunt force trauma (e.g., wedge ...

In Alpine chamois, the complete wear of the first molar coincides with the beginning of senescence and the progress of tooth wear on calcareous substrate is slower than the one on other substrates, increasing life expectancy. Thus, the first molar wear may actually be considered as an effective descriptor of senescence stage.
