Common bile duct injury during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Bile duct injury can occur more frequently during laparoscopic cholecystectomy than in open cholecystectomy. Three cases of common bile or hepatic duct injuries occurred in a series of eighty laparoscopic cholecystectomies; In case 1, the common bile ...

Functional Polarization of Liver Macrophages by Glyco Gold Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Macrophages play a critical role in several pathophysiological diseases by being involved in the activation of adaptive and innate immune responses. The repolarization of macrophages using gold nanoparticles functionalized with glycans for a more selective targeting toward a restorative phenotype leads to an amelioration of the events.

Recent classifications of the common bile duct injury

open access: yesKorean Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, 2014
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is now a gold standard treatment modality for gallstone diseases. However, the incidence rate of bile duct injury has not been changed for many years.

Oral Microalgae‐Based Biosystem to Enhance Irreversible Electroporation Immunotherapy in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents an innovative oral microalgae‐based biosystem to inhibit tumor growth, reduce PD‐1 expression, and activate immune responses of hepatocellular carcinoma. When combined with enhanced irreversible electroporation treatment, it demonstrates a synergistic effect that effectively reduces the tumor burden and enhances the tumor immune ...

Cisto de colédoco em adulto: anomalia da junção do colédoco com o ducto pancreático submetido à ressecção do cisto e à derivação biliar e pancreática

open access: yesRevista do Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões
Common bile duct cysts are rare congenital anomalies which have been diagnosed only in twenty per cent of adults. The etiology is uncertain, but many patients have an anomalous pancreatobiliary junction anatomy.

Ascending Cholangitis due to Heavy Lifting

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastroenterology, 2017
Gallstone disease is the most common risk factor for cholangitis. In an anatomically normal bile duct system, cholangitis does not occur without the presence of stones. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiography with papillotomy and stone extraction is a well-

Poorly Differentiated Adenocarcinoma with Signet-ring Cell Carcinoma of the Extrahepatic Bile Duct in a 42-year-old Japanese Female: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma without papilla or tubule formation of the extrahepatic bile duct is rare. Here we present a case (a 42-year-old Japanese woman) without either pancreatobiliary maljunction or liver disease.

Natural course vs interventions to clear common bile duct stones: data from the Swedish Registry for Gallstone Surgery and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (GallRiks).

open access: yesJAMA Surgery, 2014
IMPORTANCE The optimal strategy for common bile duct stones (CBDSs) encountered during cholecystectomy is yet to be determined. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the outcomes after various interventional techniques to clear the bile ducts and the natural course of

HNF3α Targets Nckap1l and Promotes Renal Fibrosis Following Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 3 alpha (HNF3α) is significantly upregulated in renal tubular epithelial cells of CKD patients and fibrotic mice. Deletion of HNF3α mitigates IRI‐induced renal fibrosis, while overexpression worsens it. HNF3α directly regulates NCK‐associated protein 1‐like (Nckap1l), whose overexpression exacerbates fibrosis.
