ABSTRACT Objectives Endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST) is a high‐risk procedure with a steep learning curve. We previously developed a novel dry simulator capable of reproducing bleeding after an inappropriate incision. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured educational program using the simulator within the Bethesda Endoscopic ...

Primary closure of the common bile duct in open laparotomy for common bile duct stones
It is common these days to treat common bile duct (CBD) stones using endoscopic techniques. However, severe complications sometimes lead to death despite the great benefit of these techniques. If the patient has many and/or large stones, it can take considerable time for duct clearance, and this is associated with high costs.

ABSTRACT Peroral cholangioscopy (POCS) and peroral pancreatoscopy (POPS) enable direct intraductal visualization for pancreatobiliary disease diagnosis and management. Nonetheless, conventional devices have relatively large diameters, limiting their use in narrow ducts.

ABSTRACT Objectives Post‐endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (post‐ERCP) bleeding occurs more frequently in dialysis patients than in non‐dialysis patients. This study aimed to identify risk factors for post‐ERCP bleeding following stone removal in patients undergoing dialysis.

Ascending Cholangitis due to Heavy Lifting
Gallstone disease is the most common risk factor for cholangitis. In an anatomically normal bile duct system, cholangitis does not occur without the presence of stones. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiography with papillotomy and stone extraction is a well-

ABSTRACT Endoscopic biliary plastic stent (PS) insertion is standard for maintaining bile flow, but migration and dislodgement persist as important challenges. We developed the cross range flap stent (CRF stent), a 7 Fr, 7 cm straight‐type PS. Unlike conventional stents with flaps at both ends, the CRF stent features flaps and flap holes at the ...

Percutaneous biliary stone removal: Simple to advanced techniques
Gallstones are a very common condition in developed countries, affecting approximately 10%–15% of patients who also suffer from bile duct stones. Bile duct stones can occur even in the absence of gallstones.

Outcome of Laparoscopic Common Bile Duct Exploration in Patients with Gallstone Disease [PDF]
Background: Gallstones affect 8–20% of patients, and cholecysto-choledocholithiasis (CCL) is a prevalent clinical illness characterised by the presence of gallbladder (GB) stones in addition to common bile duct (CBD) stones.

ABSTRACT Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in patients with situs inversus totalis (SIT) and Billroth II reconstruction is technically challenging because of mirror‐image anatomy, altered access to the papilla, and inverted papillary orientation.
