Codification in the Common Law

open access: yesELTE Law Journal
Codification is generally thought of as a feature of modern legal systems in the civil law world. However, codification is also used by common law systems, although there is a real question whether the form of ‘codification’ employed by common law legislators is comparable to the codification employed by civil law legislators.

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Opting into the common European sales law : how to opt-into, or opt-into at all, in B2C contracts?

open access: yes, 2013
Aim of this thesis is to find frameworks how to opt-into the Common European Sales Law in B2C contracts. European Commission gave its proposal on the Common European Sales Law (CESL) in 2011, and since it has been widely discussed all over the Europe ...

Early in the last century (i804), Mr. Smith, an eminent lawyer of Woodbury, Connecticut, in an eloquent and impressive argument before the Supreme Court of Errors2 indignantly disputed the proposition of Lord Mansfield stated in Corbett v. Poetnitz.3 "That as the times alter, new customs and new manners arise, and new exceptions and applications of the

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.
