High voltage buck converter topology for common mode voltage reduction

APEC '98 Thirteenth Annual Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2002
A new DC buck power converter topology to actively reduce common mode voltage applied to the load is presented in this paper. The supply is designed to interface universal input DC-DC power supplies to a rectified 480 VAC (700 VDC) bus. By minimizing the common mode voltage produced, the size and cost of the passive filter elements can be significantly

Model-Predictive Current Control Scheme for Seven-Phase Voltage-Source Inverter With Reduced Common-Mode Voltage and Current Harmonics

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2021
This article presents a simple model-predictive current control (MPCC) scheme to reduce both the common-mode voltage (CMV) and current harmonics for a two-level seven-phase voltage-source inverter (VSI).

Control of high common mode voltage during transthoracic defibrillation

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1995
A high common mode voltage (Vcm) relative to earth ground is produced on the myocardium during the delivery of a defibrillator pulse and can generate a differential error signal when potential gradients are recorded with bipolar electrodes and isolation amplifiers.

Common-mode voltage reduction PWM algorithm for AC drives

2009 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2009
The impact of common-mode voltage (CMV) generated by pulsewidth modulation (PWM) ac drives on motor bearings is well known. Several algorithms for CMV reduction have been proposed in the literature. While a few algorithms assume ideal switching and fall apart when nonidealities like inverter dead time are considered, some others are effective only in a

Delta-Sigma Modulation Based Common-Mode Voltage Elimination in Direct Matrix Converter

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, 2021
The direct matrix converter (DMC) offers a compact and robust solution over typical ac–dc–ac converter, by enabling direct ac–ac power conversion without any energy storage requirements.

A DPWM Modulation Strategy to Reduce Common-Mode Voltage for Indirect Matrix Converters Based on Active-Current Vector Amplitude Characteristics

IEEE transactions on industrial electronics (1982. Print), 2021
Based on the characteristics that the amplitude of active-current vector in the rectifier stage is zero when the zero-voltage vector is used in the inverter stage, and any one from the six active-current vectors can be selected, a novel discontinuous ...

Mitigation of common-mode voltage in matrix converter

3rd IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2006), 2006
This paper presents a new modulation scheme for matrix converters. With the proposed method, the peak common mode voltage is reduced to 1/√3 of the input phase voltage amplitude; at least 2/3 reduction in the high order harmonics and 1/3 in RMS value are realised. Indirect space vector modulation is adopted and modified.

Reduced common-mode voltage in Z-Source Inverters

2017 8th Power Electronics, Drive Systems & Technologies Conference (PEDSTC), 2017
Z-source family has been widespread in photovoltaic (PV) applications. In trasformerless grid-connected PV systems, the common mode voltage (CMV) time variations, cause the leakage current flow. This current flows through the stray capacitance of the PV panels.

Common-mode voltage reduction for regenerative AC drives

2012 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2012
When the conventional space vector PWM (SVPWM) schemes are applied to regenerative AC drives, very high neutral to ground voltages are generated at the motor. This can result in premature failure of the motor bearings and stator winding insulation to ground.
