Monologues, dialogues, and common priors
The main purpose of this paper is to provide a simple criterion enabling to conclude that two agents do not share a common prior. The criterion is simple, as it does not require information about the agents' knowledge and beliefs, but rather only the record of a dialogue between the agents.

Choosing priors in Bayesian ecological models by simulating from the prior predictive distribution
Bayesian data analysis is increasingly used in ecology, but prior specification remains focused on choosing non‐informative priors (e.g., flat or vague priors).

How common are common priors? [PDF]
Abstract To answer the question in the title we vary agentsʼ beliefs against the background of a fixed knowledge space, that is, a state space with a partition for each agent. Beliefs are the posterior probabilities of agents, which we call type profiles.

On Architecture Selection for Linear Inverse Problems with Untrained Neural Networks
In recent years, neural network based image priors have been shown to be highly effective for linear inverse problems, often significantly outperforming conventional methods that are based on sparsity and related notions.

Signaling Without Common Prior: An Experiment [PDF]
The common prior assumption is pervasive in game-theoretic models with incomplete information. This paper investigates experimentally the importance of inducing a common prior in a two-person signaling game. For a specific probability distribution of the sender’s type, the long-run behavior without an induced common prior is shown to be different from ...

Background The use of Bayesian inference (BI) is a common methodology for data analysis in Ecology and Evolution. This statistical approach is particularly useful in cases which information is scarce, because allows formalizing sources of information ...

Positive, continuous, and right-skewed data are fit by a mixture of gamma and inverse gamma distributions. For 16 hierarchical models of gamma and inverse gamma distributions, there are only 8 of them that have conjugate priors.

Inpainting larger missing regions via progressive guidance decoding network
For images corrupted for various reasons, the size of the corrupted area is often arbitrary and it has been a challenge to inpainting the larger missing areas.
