Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Measuring and utilizing temporal network dissimilarity

open access: yesCommunications Physics
Quantifying the structural and functional differences of temporal networks remains a fundamental and challenging problem in the era of big data. Traditional network comparison methods, originally developed for static networks, often fall short in ...

Randomised Individual Communication Complexity

open access: yes2008 23rd Annual IEEE Conference on Computational Complexity, 2008
In this paper we study the individual communication complexity of the following problem. Alice receives an input string x and Bob an input string y, and Alice has to output y. For deterministic protocols it has been shown in Buhrman et al. (2004), that C(y) many bits need to be exchanged even if the actual amount of information C(y|x) is much smaller ...

Vestibular Patient Journey: Insights From Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Vestibular symptoms impose a high burden of disability. Understanding real‐world diagnostic and treatment pathways can identify care gaps and guide interventions. We aimed to characterize symptom profiles, diagnostic trends, provider involvement, and treatment patterns in vestibular disorders.

On the Communication Complexity of Lipschitzian Optimization for the Coordinated Model of Computation

open access: yes, 2000
We consider the problem of approximating the maximum of the sum of m Lipschitz continuous functions. The values of each function are assumed to reside at a different memory element.

Optimisation of energy efficiency of ambient backscatter communication and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces in non‐orthogonal multiple access downlink

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation
The authors study the energy efficiency (EE) of ambient backscatter communication (AmBC) device‐assisted and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS)‐assisted non‐orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) downlinks.

A Prospective Study of Individuals at Risk of Multiple Sclerosis Informs the Design of Primary Prevention Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In multiple sclerosis, the optimal time for deploying a therapeutic intervention is before the central nervous system is damaged; given the success of trials treating the earliest stage of MS, the radiologically isolated syndrome, developing primary prevention strategies is an important next challenge.

The Communication Complexity of Pointer Chasing

open access: yesJournal of Computer and System Sciences, 2001
The bounded round two-party communication complexity of a particular problem -- the pointer chasing problem -- is studied. First, a nonlinear lower bound is proved that matches the known upper bound for this problem. Then, the bit version of the problem is considered, and upper and lower bounds are shown.

Efficacy of Intermittent Theta‐Burst Stimulation for Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Emerging evidence suggests that low‐frequency neural oscillations are dynamically regulated by consciousness levels, with the recovery of low cortical activity potentially serving as a neurophysiological substrate for conscious emergence. Targeted enhancement of these low‐frequency rhythms in patients with disorders of consciousness
