Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Investigation of Fan In and Fan Out Technologies for Multi Core Fiber

open access: yesGuangtongxin yanjiu, 2021
Spatial division multiplexing based on the multi-core fiber has been believed as a promising and effective way to overcome the foreseeable capacity crunch of single mode fiber transmission. Fan-in Fan-out (FIFO) technology for multi-core fiber is the key

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Reduced Multiplicative (BURA-MR) and Additive (BURA-AR) Best Uniform Rational Approximation Methods and Algorithms for Fractional Elliptic Equations

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2021
Numerical methods for spectral space-fractional elliptic equations are studied. The boundary value problem is defined in a bounded domain of general geometry, Ω⊂Rd, d∈{1,2,3}. Assuming that the finite difference method (FDM) or the finite element method (

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Contextualised learning‐free three‐dimensional body pose estimation from two‐dimensional body features in monocular images

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2016
In this study, the authors present a learning‐free method for inferring kinematically plausible three‐dimensional (3D) human body poses contextualised in a predefined 3D world, given a set of 2D body features extracted from monocular images.

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...
