Development of an Open‐Source Algorithm for Automated Segmentation in Clinician‐Led Paranasal Sinus Radiologic Research

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
The purpose of this study was to validate and provide an open‐source segmentation algorithm of paranasal sinus CT scans for the otolaryngology research community. This can be used for further AI‐based analysis and radiomic analysis in future research. ABSTRACT Objective Artificial Intelligence (AI) research needs to be clinician led; however, expertise

Ocean Science Meets Diplomacy: Contribution of the One Ocean Science Congress to the Third United Nations Ocean Conference

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Bulletin, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper reviews the outcomes of the One Ocean Science Congress (OOSC) and its strategic alignment with the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) as a case study in ocean science diplomacy. Convened in June 2025 in Nice, France, as a UN Special Event immediately preceding UNOC3, the OOSC introduced an innovative model for ...

Cylindrical Vector Beam Multiplexing based on All‐Dielectric Fiber Meta‐Tips Enabling High‐Capacity Bidirectional Optical Communication

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Cylindrical vector beam (CVB) multiplexing offers a viable solution to channel capacity, integration, and unidirectional transmission challenges in fiber‐rich sixth‐generation backbone networks. An all‐dielectric fiber meta‐tip‐enabled CVB multiplexing system is proposed and demonstrated, providing high‐capacity, bidirectional optical interconnects and

Multichannel Detection of Hybrid Spin‐Orbital Mode Pairs

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A multi‐foci metalens is developed to detect hybrid spin‐orbital mode pairs (HSOMPs) in multiple channels. Each light spot can detect a predesigned HSOMP, while the spin states of its components are determined by the arc intensity patterns in the neighboring light spots.

Compact Spectral Imaging: A Review of Miniaturized and Integrated Systems

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This review explores the rapid shift toward compact spectral imaging systems by examining four key design paradigms: Do‐It‐Yourself (DIY) platforms, freeform optics, filter‐on‐chip integration, and multifunctional metasurfaces. The discussion highlights critical applications in medicine, agriculture, and environmental monitoring, providing comparative ...

Vortex Beam Lasing from III‐V Nanowires Epitaxially Grown on Silicon‐on‐Insulator

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
An epitaxially grown InGaAs nanowire photonic crystal laser on silicon‐on‐insulator is demonstrated to emit vortex beams carrying orbital angular momentum. Deforming the honeycomb lattice causes the band inversion effect and creates symmetry‐protected bound states in the continuum, enabling single‐mode lasing with a topological charge of −2 ...

MEMS‐Tunable Bilayer Plasmonic Metasurfaces for Dynamic Vortex Wave Plates

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work presents a MEMS‐tunable bilayer metasurface for dynamic vortex wave plates at near‐infrared wavelengths. By electrically tuning the separation between the BMS and the MEMS mirror, the device enables reconfigurable switching between l = 2 and l = −1 vortex modes, achieving >80% polarization conversion efficiency, fast response time (9 µs), and
