Characteristics of homogeneous multi-core fibers for SDM transmission

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2019
We describe optical data transmission systems using homogeneous, single-mode, multi-core fibers (MCFs). We first briefly discuss space-division multiplexing (SDM) fibers, observing that no individual SDM fiber offers overwhelming advantages over bundles ...

Pseudo-noise test set for communication system evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
A test set for communications systems is described which includes a pseudo noise sequence generator providing a test signal that is fed to a pair of signal channels. The first channel includes a spectrum shaping filter and a conditioning amplifier.

Practical challenges in data‐driven interpolation: Dealing with noise, enforcing stability, and computing realizations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary In this contribution, we propose a detailed study of interpolation‐based data‐driven methods that are of relevance in the model reduction and also in the systems and control communities. The data are given by samples of the transfer function of the underlying (unknown) model, that is, we analyze frequency‐response data.

Fast Neural Speech Waveform Generative Models With Fully-Connected Layer-Based Upsampling

open access: yesIEEE Access
Although end-to-end (E2E) text-to-speech (TTS) models with HiFi-GAN-based neural vocoder (e.g. VITS and JETS) can achieve human-like speech quality with fast inference speed, these models still have room to further improve the inference speed with a CPU ...

Orbit Determination Error Analysis for the KOMPSAT [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 1998
Orbit error analysis was performed for the GPS navigation solutions and ground station tracking data of the KOMPSAT (Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite), which will be launched in 1999 for cartography of Korean peninsula as main mission. A least square method

Visual Information Pianists Use for Efficient Score Reading

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2018
When sight-reading music, pianists have to decode a large number of notes and immediately transform them into finger actions. How do they achieve such fast decoding?

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.
