Statistical process control to monitor use of a web‐based autoplanning tool

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To investigate the use of statistical process control (SPC) for quality assurance of an integrated web‐based autoplanning tool, Radiation Planning Assistant (RPA). Methods Automatically generated plans were downloaded and imported into two treatment planning systems (TPSs), RayStation and Eclipse, in which they were recalculated using ...

Enhancement of Subcooled Flow Boiling Heat Transfer with High Porosity Sintered Fiber Metal

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
We conducted experimental research using high-porosity sintered fiber attached on the surface, as a passive method to increase the heat flux for subcooled flow boiling.

Communicating Reaction Systems with Direct Communication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
We introduce and examine two variants of networks of reaction systems, called communicating reaction systems with direct communication, where the reaction systems send products or reactions to each other. We show that these types of networks of reaction systems can be obtained by simple mappings from single reaction systems.

Treatment planning with a 2.5 MV photon beam for radiation therapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose The shallow depth of maximum dose and higher dose fall‐off gradient of a 2.5 MV beam along the central axis that is available for imaging on linear accelerators is investigated for treatment of shallow tumors and sparing the organs at risk (OARs) beyond it.

Cooperative Radar and Communications Signaling: The Estimation and Information Theory Odd Couple [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate cooperative radar and communications signaling. While each system typically considers the other system a source of interference, by considering the radar and communications operations to be a single joint system, the performance of both ...

Fast Single-Mode Fiber Nonlinearity Monitoring: An Experimental Comparison Between Split-Step and Nonlinear Fourier Transform-Based Methods

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2023
We experimentally investigate the problem of monitoring the Kerr-nonlinearity coefficient $\gamma$ from transmitted and received data for a single-mode fiber link of 1600 km length. We compare the accuracy and speed of three different approaches.

Short-range ultrasonic communications in air using quadrature modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A study has been undertaken of ultrasonic communications methods in air, using a quadrature modulation method. Simulations were first performed to establish the likely performance of quadrature phase shift keying over the limited bandwidth available in ...

Emotion Communication System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
In today's increasingly rich material life, people are shifting their focus from the physical world to the spiritual world. In order to identify and care for people's emotions, human-machine interaction systems have been created. The currently available human-machine interaction systems often support the interaction between human and robot under the ...

AC2C: Adaptively Controlled Two-Hop Communication for Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Learning communication strategies in cooperative multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) has recently attracted intensive attention. Early studies typically assumed a fully-connected communication topology among agents, which induces high communication costs and may not be feasible.

DNN-Based Map Deviation Detection in LiDAR Point Clouds

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2023
In this work we present a novel deep learning-based approach to detect and specify map deviations in erroneous or outdated high-definition (HD) maps using both sensor and map data as input to a deep neural network (DNN).
