A Framework for Dynamic Composition of Communication Services

ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks, 2014
We propose a framework for dynamic composition of communication services that is well suited for facilitating research and prototyping on real experimental infrastructures of remotely configurable embedded devices. By using the concept of composability, our framework supports modular component development for various networking functions, thereby ...

Detecting Change in the Composition of a Multispecies Community

Biometrics, 1994
This paper describes an approach to extracting a trend from a time series of the composition of a multispecies community. The approach is based on a modification of a method for trend extraction from ordinary multiple time series. Two applications to a Northwest Atlantic ecosystem are described.

Compositional software synthesis of communicating processes

Proceedings 1999 IEEE International Conference on Computer Design: VLSI in Computers and Processors (Cat. No.99CB37040), 2003
We describe a new compositional software synthesis method for synthesizing concurrent software programs into ordinary C programs so that they can be executed on embedded processors without the need for a run-time multitasking operating system. The synthesized C program can be readily retargeted to different processors using available optimizing C ...

Patterns of vegetation and grasshopper community composition

Oecologia, 1990
A study was conducted to evaluate differences in rangeland grasshopper communities over environmental gradients in Gallatin Valley, Montana, USA. The concept of habitat type (Daubenmire 1966) was used as a basis for discriminating between groupings of patches based on vegetation.

Specifying composite illustrations with communicative goals

Proceedings of the 2nd annual ACM SIGGRAPH symposium on User interface software and technology, 1989
IBIS (Intent-Based Illustration System) generates illustrations automatically, guided by communicative goals. Communicative goals specify that particular properties of objects, such as their color, size, or location are to be conveyed in the illustration. IBIS is intended to be part of an interactive multimedia explanation generation system.

Composition of nets via a communication medium

1991
The general idea of this paper is to build a system in a modular way and to deduce its properties only by analysing its smaller components. Since, in general, composing subnets does not preserve properties (especially liveness) at the level of the global net, the problem is to find constraints on the subnets for establishing such results.
