A Controllable Thyristor-Based Commutation Failure Inhibitor for LCC-HVDC Transmission Systems
Commutation failure is a serious malfunction in line-commutated high voltage direct current (HVdc) converters which is mainly caused by the inverter ac faults, and results in a temporary interruption of transmitted power and damage to the converter ...

Making Almost Commuting Matrices Commute [PDF]
Suppose two Hermitian matrices $A,B$ almost commute ($\Vert [A,B] \Vert \leq $). Are they close to a commuting pair of Hermitian matrices, $A',B'$, with $\Vert A-A' \Vert,\Vert B-B'\Vert \leq $? A theorem of H. Lin shows that this is uniformly true, in that for every $ >0$ there exists a $ >0$, independent of the size $N$ of the matrices ...

Energy-Efficient Cooperative Spectrum Sensing With Reporting Errors in Hybrid Spectrum Sharing CRNs
Recently, cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) in cognitive radio networks has been extensively researched. However, most of the studies mainly focus on maximizing the spectral efficiency while the energy consumption is generally ignored.

FPGA-based implementation of the back-EMF symmetric-threshold-tracking sensorless commutation method for brushless DC-machines [PDF]
The operation of brushless DC permanent-magnet machines requires information of the rotor position to steer the semiconductor switches of the power-supply module which is commonly referred to as Brushless Commutation. Different sensorless techniques have

Commutation matrices and Commutation tensors [PDF]
The commutation matrix was first introduced in statistics as a transposition matrix by Murnaghan in 1938. In this paper, we first investigate the commutation matrix which is employed to transform a matrix into its transpose. We then extend the concept of the commutation matrix to commutation tensor and use the commutation tensor to achieve the ...

Relativistic free-particle quantization on the light-front: New aspects [PDF]
We use the light-front machinery to study the behavior of a relativistic free particle and obtain the quantum commutation relations from the classical Poisson brackets.

A ring is called a commutator ring if every element is a sum of additive commutators. In this note we give examples of such rings. In particular, we show that given any ring R, a right R-module N, and a nonempty set Ω, EndR(⌖ΩN) and EndR(ΠΩN) are commutator rings if and only if either Ω is infinite or EndR(N) is itself a commutator ring.
