On Commutative Monoid Congruences of Semigroups

open access: yes, 2015
A subset A of a semigroup S is called a medial subset of S if xaby is in A if and only if xbay is in A for every elements x, y, a, b of S. In the paper we show how we can construct the commutative monoid congruences of a semigroup S by the help of medial subsets of S.

Generalized Polynomials on Semigroups

open access: yesAnnales Mathematicae Silesianae
This article has two main parts. In the first part we show that some of the basic theory of generalized polynomials on commutative semi-groups can be extended to all semigroups.

Slightly Commutative Kleene Semigroups

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1997
A classical result of automata theory is Kleene's theorem: the recognisable languages in a finitely generated free monoid are the same as the rational languages; a language is recognisable if it is saturated by a congruence of finite index, whereas it is rational if it can be constructed from finite languages by means of unions, products and `Kleene ...
