Commutativity analysis for XML updates
An effective approach to support XML updates is to use XQuery extended with update operations. This approach results in very expressive languages which are convenient for users but are difficult to optimize or reason about.

A Collapse Result in the Mereology of Properties
ABSTRACT I examine five principles about the metaphysics of properties, each of which has been defended in the literature: (1) the sum of properties is their corresponding conjunctive property, (2) the mereology of properties is classical, (3) properties are individuated by necessary co‐instantiation, (4) sums of objects belonging to different ...

On the tightness of left‐invariant contact structures
Abstract We prove that all left‐invariant contact structures on three‐dimensional Lie groups are tight. The argument is based on Riemannian methods and establishes a unique factorization property for any Lie group admitting a left‐invariant contact structure, other than SU(2)$\mathrm{SU}(2)$. We then make use of such factorization property to construct

Exhaustive study on the commutativity of time-varying systems
This paper, which is a survey and a compact reference on the commutativity of time-varying systems, gives the complete set of necessary and sufficient commutativity conditions for systems of any order. Original results are derived on Euler's systems, and

Strong commutativity preserving derivations on Lie ideals of prime Γ-rings [PDF]
Let M be a Γ-ring and S ⊆ M. A mapping f : M → M is called strong commutativity preserving on S if [f(x), f(y)]α = [x, y]α, for all x, y ∈ S, α ∈ Γ. In the present paper, we investigate the commutativity of the prime Γ-ring M of characteristic not 2 with

The singularity category and duality for complete intersection groups
Abstract If G$G$ is a finite group, the structure of the modular representation theory depends on the cochains C∗(BG;k)$C^*(BG; k)$, viewed as a commutative ring spectrum. We consider here its singularity category (in the sense of the author and Stevenson [Adv. Math.
