On compactness of lattices [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2005
Let X be an arbitrary set and L a lattice of subsets of X. We denote by I(L) the set of those zero‐one‐valued nontrivial, finitely additive measures on A(L), the algebra generated by L, and we introduce other subsets of I(L). We study compactness/normality properties either relating to a single lattice L or relating to a pair of lattices L1 ⊂ L2 of ...

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Impacts of Non-Federal Reservoirs and Land Terracing on Basin Water Supplies: Republican River Basin Final Report

open access: yes, 2014
June 2014.Kansas filed suit in the U.S. Supreme Court in May 1998 complaining that the State of Nebraska had violated the Republican River Compact. The three original parties to the Compact, Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado, became parties to the case and ...

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

A Novel Dual-Band Printed Monopole Antenna With Modified SIR Loading

open access: yesIEEE Access
In this paper, a novel dual-band compact printed monopole antenna is presented. The antenna is composed of three spatially distributed layers: a modified folded-line stepped impedance resonator (SIR) on the upper layer, a printed monopole antenna on the ...

Continuous functions on products of compact Hausdorff spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We investigated the spaces of continuous functions on countable products of compact Hausdorff spaces. Our main object here is to extend the discussion to arbitrary products of compact Hausdorff spaces.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.
