Compactness and Weak Compactness in Spaces of Compact-Range Vector Measures

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1984
This paper features strong and weak compactness in spaces of vector measures with relatively compact ranges in Banach spaces. Its tools are the measure-operator identification of [16] and [24] and the description of strong and weak compactness in spaces of compact operators in [10], [11], and [29].Given a Banach space X and an algebra of sets, it is ...

Compaction behavior of roller compacted ibuprofen

European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics, 2008
The effect of roller compaction pressure on the bulk compaction of roller compacted ibuprofen was investigated using instrumented rotary tablet press. Three different roller pressures were utilized to prepare granules and Heckel analysis, Walker analysis, compressibility, and tabletability were performed to derive densification, deformation, course of ...

Locally compact, ω1-compact spaces

Annals of Pure and Applied Logic
An $ω_1$-compact space is a space in which every closed discrete subspace is countable. We give various general conditions under which a locally compact, $ω_1$-compact space is $σ$-countably compact, i.e., the union of countably many countably compact spaces. These conditions involve very elementary properties.

Compactness and Local Compactness

2011
The cover definition of compactness is basically point-free; therefore there is no surprise that the basic facts are very much like in the classical case. But a surprise does come: the point-free variant of Stone-?Cech compactification is fully constructive (no choice principle and no use of the excluded middle).

The sexual compact

Angelaki, 2012
This paper is a full-out defense – and development – of the psychoanalytic position that there are two and only two sexes. It proceeds by problematizing all the main terms at issue, including: the two (which it views as a more complex notion than that of the multiple); sex (as irreducible to raw biology or social convention); and relation (as the ...
