Embeddings of compact Sasakian manifolds [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Research Letters, 2007
Let M be a compact Sasakian manifold. We show that M admits a CR-embedding into a Sasakian manifold diffeomorphic to a sphere, and this embedding is compatible with the respective Reeb fields. We argue that a stronger embedding theorem cannot be obtained.

Thurston boundary of Teichm\"uller spaces and the commensurability modular group [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
If $p : Y \to X$ is an unramified covering map between two compact oriented surfaces of genus at least two, then it is proved that the embedding map, corresponding to $p$, from the Teichm\"uller space ${\cal T}(X)$, for $X$, to ${\cal T}(Y)$ actually ...

On the $C^k$-embedding of Lorentzian manifolds in Ricci-flat spaces

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we investigate the problem of non-analytic embeddings of Lorentzian manifolds in Ricci-flat semi-Riemannian spaces. In order to do this, we first review some relevant results in the area, and then motivate both the mathematical and physical

Brézis-Wainger Inequality on Riemannian Manifolds

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2008
The Brézis-Wainger inequality on a compact Riemannian manifold without boundary is shown. For this purpose, the Moser-Trudinger inequality and the Sobolev embedding theorem are applied.

Poincare ball embeddings of the optical geometry

open access: yes, 2002
It is shown that optical geometry of the Reissner-Nordstrom exterior metric can be embedded in a hyperbolic space all the way down to its outer horizon. The adopted embedding procedure removes a breakdown of flat-space embeddings which occurs outside the

An Embedding Theorem for Compact Semilattices [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1972
It is shown that if a compact topological semilattice S is a topological lattice, then S can be embedded simultaneously algebraically and topologically in a direct product of n chains if and only if S can be algebraically embedded in a direct product of n chains.

On the stability of equivariant embedding of compact CR manifolds with circle action

open access: yes, 2017
We prove the stability of the equivariant embedding of compact strictly pseudoconvex CR manifolds with transversal CR circle action under circle invariant perturbations of the CR structures.Comment: 21 pages, final ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

On a conjectured reverse Faber-Krahn inequality for a Steklov-type Laplacian eigenvalue

open access: yes, 2014
For a given bounded Lipschitz set $\Omega$, we consider a Steklov--type eigenvalue problem for the Laplacian operator whose solutions provide extremal functions for the compact embedding $H^1(\Omega)\hookrightarrow L^2(\partial \Omega)$.

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...
